What can a website do for me?
At the very least, it allows people to contact you from anywhere at any time. For some, it enhances credibility and prestige, while providing cost-effective service 24/7. For others, it's a sales force with global outreach. For still others, it creates a virtual museum, library, or university. What a website can't do is rescue a failing venture!  Top

What does a website cost?
Our introductory website is FREE with the purchase of a domain name and annual hosting. A basic website or makeover for a professional typically costs between $500-2500. A website for a company with many products, or an organization with lots of services costs $2500 and up. For a free quote, tell us your needs.  Top

Do you bill by the job or the hour?
Complete websites built from scratch are normally billed by the job. Makeovers, maintenance, and updates are billed at $35 to $75 per hour according to the level of skill required. Special rates are available for non-profits and contract customers.  Top

Do you do everything, or do I need to arrange separately for some website services?
The Webshop is a one-stop shop. We do it all: domain registration, hosting, research, design, development, copy writing, graphics, programming, search engine registration, maintenance, updates, site promotion. Your website is our business!  Top

What's included in website hosting?
Webhosting includes up to 50MB of disk space on our servers, up to 1GB of traffic monthly, 24-hour uptime monitoring, daily backups, domain email (forwarded and/or POP3 accounts), updates to accommodate browser changes, minor modifications, monthly web usage reports, and annual search engine registrations.
P.S. We only host sites we're maintaining.  Top

Can I make changes to my website myself?
Yes, specific changes such as to a list or database are possible by pre-arrangement. However, for your protection, we never give out the passwords needed to make global changes. Since we don't charge for minor modifications, this policy maximizes both security and flexibility for most users.

Can you instruct me while you build my website?
We offer instruction in website development after we build your website (see below). Instruction during the process is not time or cost-effective.  Top

I'm in Dallas, you're in White Plains. Is that a problem?
Not if we don't talk baseball! Actually, we have clients all across the country, from Carolina to California, from Missouri to Minnesota. Email -- our preferred method of communication -- fax, and telephone work just as well around the corner as around the nation (and across the globe). And we're happy to travel when necessary.  Top

If I place my order today, when will my website go online?
Because it can take up to six months for search engine registrations to kick in, we normally build a website in two stages. The first, temporary stage will usually go online and be registered in search engines within 7-10 days of your paid order. The second, permanent website will be completed a month to six months later depending on our workload, and the size, complexity and urgency of your site.  Top

I have a website that doesn't work. Do you do makeovers?
Yes, but there are two things you need to know up front.  (1) We only work on sites we host and register. The cost of registering your site for two years, moving it, setting it up on our servers, and hosting it for one year is $750.  (2) Sites that don't work -- even those built by professionals -- often have little that can be saved in the way of code, copy, and programming. Of course, we're always up for a challenge!  Top

Can you improve the search engine ranking of my existing website?
Yes, but to rank well, a website has to be designed with ranking in mind. Websites that rank poorly are candidates for a makeover, not search engine optimization. Please see the answer above on makeovers.  Top

Do you offer classes in website development?
We don't offer scheduled classes. However, our President, Lou Bruno, will address your group or company for an honorarium (usually $350-500) plus travel expenses. Also, we can train you to operate and maintain your website, after we build it. The cost is $75 plus travel for the first hour, and $50 for each additional hour, with a three hour minimum.  Top
